Pink opal




Pink Opal is a mixture of opal, palygorskite and minor chalcedony. It is slightly translucent to almost opaque

Opal consist 3% - 21 % water, it comes in the category of mineraloid. The internal structure of opal makes it diffract light, this gives many colors, pink is one of the colours. Opals contain water, which makes them very sensitive to heat. 

Significant Gem Localities:-

 Australia produces most of the opals; Pink opal is mined in Peru.
